When I was a teenager I developed a very particular set of skills: waging emotional warfare on my crushes via extremely specific, perfectly coded mixed CDs. Track order mattered. Transitions mattered. If you didn't understand why song four was actually a message, that was your problem, not mine.

In college I was the girl who took over the aux cord and got the entire dance floor moving. I was a black belt in this. No one better.

When CDs died I was afraid my special talent would become obsolete. Turns out it's more transferable than I thought — now I just curate playlists for a cake studio instead of a crush.

Every class has its own sound. Cake workshops have their own playlist. Cookie workshops have theirs. And Happy Hour gets its own folder entirely, usually built around a theme — Gaga vs. Madonna, Pop Punk Night, a deep dive into Yacht Rock. Whatever the bit is that week, we commit to it fully.
